Of course, if you’re the bride-to-be, you’ve been dreaming of this moment, and this DRESS, forever. But if you’re the groom or a guest, you may want to know a bit more about dressing for a destination wedding before you pack your bags and fly off to paradise. No matter your role, the surroundings are going to be so beautiful that you know you’ll want to take dozens, if not hundreds, of photos – and you’re going to want to make sure you look just as good in those photos as the beautiful beach backdrop. So read on to hear exactly how to dress for a destination wedding: For the bride: Yes, you have found your dream dress. Yes, you’ve already thought about how it would look on the beach, as the sun is setting: perfect. We would never doubt your dream dress. But we here at Beach Honeymoons & Destination Weddings are here to remember the details you may be leaving out of your flawless wedding fantasy… First: the train. If your dress has a long train, that is going to look absolutely stunning in all of your photos. But it may be an absolute mess when walking down the aisle, or dancing the night away at your beach-party reception. Sand can get everywhere, and you don’t want your train to be dragging around a pound of sand by the end of the night. If you get a train, make sure it includes a loop and a button on your waist in order to pin it up when you’re not taking photos, or saying your vows with your husband-to-be. That way, you can have your dream dress, your dream beach wedding, and your dream of still looking beautiful all night. Second: the shoes. Shoes are usually an afterthought, but with a destination beach wedding, we cannot stress enough that you must have backups. Let’s say you’re aiming for that perfect, beachy vibe with your outfit, and that includes bare feet. Make sure that even if you are planning on going barefoot, you have shoes with you that you would be happy to wear with your dress if worst comes to worst. No one wants to think about the “worst,” whether that’s an accidental cut or scrape on your foot that needs protection, or an unexpected storm causing your ceremony to temporarily relocate inside, but you’re going to want to make sure you’re prepared for every possible situation, so if something happens, you can focus on your dream day instead of scrambling. For the groom: One of the best aspects about using Beach Honeymoons & Destination Weddings to plan your celebration of love is that the groom doesn’t really have to think about his wedding attire: typically, the properties our company works with have an option to rent a wedding tux right there at the resort. If your fiancé has dreams of a beautiful, relaxed beach ceremony, you may not even need a tux – many of our grooms choose to marry their true loves in loose, cotton pants and button-down shirts in white or bright beach colors. The advantages: you’ll be comfy, you’ll still look nice, and it’ll be easier than ever to scoop your beautiful bride up in your arms for that show-stopping kiss as the sun is setting. The disadvantages: none we can think of! For the guests: What could be more fun than dressing for a destination beach wedding?? You’re on vacation, you’re surrounded by beauty, you’re watching your loved one marry their soulmate, AND you get to wear bright, fun clothes? Many of the same considerations the bride and groom will be making should also apply to you when choosing your outfits: it’s okay to keep it loose, casual, and beachy, but make sure you have a backup plan if you’re rocking bare feet or some other outdoor-only wear. If you’re a member of the bridal party, odds are you’ll already have specific instructions on what to wear, but for the rest of the guests, remember this one crucial rule: even though the wedding’s on a beach, white is still only for the bride. Being the largest island in the French Polynesia, Tahiti has a lot to offer a couple searching to celebrate love. The French Polynesia is made up of 118 islands, and Tahiti is just one of many. When people hear the name Tahiti they think of secluded beaches, and the odd errant coconut. However, Tahiti is more than just a beautiful destination. Tahiti allows for people to come from all over the globe to celebrate a honeymoon, vow renewal and even a destination wedding. It is an experience that many people don’t have an opportunity to have within their lifetime. Make it count. Getting married is the ultimate relationship milestone and requires the utmost celebration. The union of two separate hearts becoming one deserves the most unique ceremony, as no heart is the same as another. Say your vows with the gorgeous backdrops of white sandy beaches, 2 extinct volcanoes, over-water chapels, or beautiful yachts which can be found on the sparkling island of Tahiti. The island was created especially for this special moment that everyone has come to experience. The island is a must see and is something that you can’t find anywhere else in the world: the optimum wedding destination. The island of Tahiti is part of the French Polynesia and in order to get married there, there are certain rules you must follow. A very common rule known by many of us is the fact that both the bride and the groom must be legal adults (thus, 18 years of age by the date of the ceremony), and can not be part of the same family line. The ceremony must also have both the bride and groom present on the date and be performed in front of witnesses that are also above 18 years of age. Since the island does reside within the borders of French Polynesia, the ceremony will be performed in French; however, the couple may bring a translator to the ceremony in order for the couple to understand exactly what is being said. The couple must also bring a valid identification that cannot expire 60 days prior to the wedding day and a birth certificate, that has to have a certified French translation for the marriage in Tahiti to be legally binding. Finally, the couple must write a letter to the Mayor of the commune that they wish to get married in and additionally fill out the “Foreign Weddings in French Polynesia” document to also be presented to the mayor. These documents must be sent at least 45 days before the wedding to insure proper filing. All these documents allow for you to start your lives together the second you both say “I do”. You can arrange a traditional Tahitian wedding ceremony. Although these traditional wedding events are most popular with people on their honeymoon or renewing their vows, the traditional wedding is a hard to miss experience. The ceremony begins with the bride receiving a relaxing oil massage by her own Tahitian “bridesmaid” that was given to her, while surrounded by a variety of traditional bouquet of flowers. While the bride is being treated, the groom is taken to a small islet on a Canoe where he is to be painted with traditional tattoos, and given a crown to wear during the reception. During the ceremony, the bride wears a traditional Tahitian wedding dress and flower headpiece to. Also, a Tahitian gives the bride and groom their own Tahitian names to be used, as well as a name for their first born child. Following the ceremony, the newly weds travel on a sunset cruise where they listen to romantic Tahitian music being sung to them. This ceremony can only be found on the islands of Tahitian and is unlike anything else in the world. Having a traditional wedding can be a truly life changing experience, especially if you have it in the right location. The islands of Tahiti are that location. They hold onto the ancient Tahitian tradition that gives your destination wedding a kick that other weddings just don't have.
